People queuing on the streets to withdraw money from Northern Rock Building Society branches. That was the image of the crash of 2008 that many of us recall.
Well that and all those people from Lehmann Bros with pitiful jumbles of desk ornaments in cardboard boxes. Those unfortunates aside, Northern Rock was the poster-boy for financial failure.
Our job was to keep the corpse animated for long enough to sell off the profitable bits, which we did superbly well with this campaign that ran across all media.
I am particularly proud of being involved in creating the line – ‘Works for me’ – because, that’s what the company was doing, now that it was, effectively in public ownership.
